1. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE /UNDERMINE YOUR WORTH.
Chances are if you undermine yourself and your worth, people will do the same to you.
2. ARE YOU DOING IT BECAUSE YOU HAVE PASSION FOR IT OR YOU’RE JUST IN IT FOR PROFIT ?
We know that the goal of most organization at the end is profit, but profit comes with the worth of your product/service and it is a long journey in the long run but if you in for the instant gratification of profit then you might be disappointed. Instead of been profit oriented try product/service oriented. People are not looking to waste their money or time just because you are doing business, they will always look at how your product makes them feel, is it a necessity? Is it valuable? Do you see why you have to be passionate about it?
3. NEVER SELL ON CREDIT.
Unless you have a good backup plan for selling on credit, then never venture into selling on credit. This can backtrack you and slow your business pace which can eventually force you to give up. I have learnt that people do not love to pay for your stuff when it’s on credit unless you offer to sue them and then you have to constantly follow them up unless your can handle the stress that comes with this, then payment before service!
4. KNOW YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE.
This is something you cannot avoid or overlook, you must know who your audience are for how can you create product and services if you do not know who need them. Focusing on everyone is like focusing on no one, you cannot be everything to everyone in the market and because everyone is uniquely different you have to know your target and focused on your niche to better serve them excellently.
5. BE PATIENT.
This list will not be complete without patient. Truth is patient is a virtue, I know this can be annoying especially when you want something immediately, but you will have to wear patience on your sleeve everyday. It’s unlikely that you will be full of calls and orders from day one in other words, Don’t expect your business to Star rock overnight, this is not to say that it is not possible just saying after all that Rome wasn’t built overnight.
these are my lessons, what are yours?
